Wow I finally managed to get this all up and going huh?
Took a while but finally picked up a template from Teppy's layouts and have been editing and modifying it as I go basically. It took a long while to really look at all of this and finally decide to just bite the bullet, but recently I had finished Romeo is a Deadman but had no real motivation to write about it on backloggd as I usually would! I'd taken so many screenshots of the game as I played and kept thinking about much longer form, detailed writing and wanting to use these screenshots but not necessarily wanting to make a video just yet for it. More recently too, I'd been thinking about just writing about topics like my love for Composite video output for 5th gen era games and essays and posts I'd been thinking about just going for in a real tangible way and after seeing others I respect starting to make their own places, I really wanted to do it too!
I began to feel a kind of weariness from the way a lot of sites can feel like they end up getting people to curb their writing and styles to whatever platforms they are writing for and also what feels like a tightening restriction on what you can exactly write about and how that just skeeves me out but like I wanna write more and in a way that feels truer to me in a place that I control and I think I've just hit a point where I'd much rather have a space like this for myself. A place where I can write about whatever the fuck I want to and use screenshots and embed video and shit like that! I wanna do more than that and learn some shit and make this page shine for myself! So I finally decided after kinda playing around with some stuff to just finally bunker down and just fuckin do it instead of just continuing to think about it and annoyingly bsky post about it endlessly without actually making any real progress lmao.
Now this is not perfect at all, the whole thing has so far led to quite a few learning experiences (and actually pretty funny recollections from when I learned HTML back in high school over a decade+ ago at this point) and headaches in different ways and this whole blog will be adjusting over time as I personalize more and more of it and make more adjustments, but I wanted to get the bones of things working properly as I could before really going hard at the rest of it. Plus honestly this is probably the most excited I've been at really building something since I started the Youtube channel itself.
So will I still use sites like letterboxd and backloggd?
I read things from people I follow and fuck with on sites like these and I will still probably write short things on both but I'm not gonna hold myself to constantly running to them to post. Hell part of the reason I actually started using both is I wanted to get better at expanding my mind and the ways I look at and engage with the things I do and find other people like that, so I don't think I could ever truly stop using them but I do think I want to use them less writing wise (especially with the way Backloggd has been handling things as of late has kind of made me wanna use it much less to be very frank). So in short yes, but not in the same way as I was before and I want longer pieces with more heart put into them to go here whenever they're done instead!
So what will be posted here? Reviews? Random Bullshit?
The main gist will be art/media write-ups but I'll also give some room to, again, ideas like the whole Composite video output love idea I got brewing in my mind right now and maybe something on the Superstation One. I wanna take it a bit at a time but this is a perfect place for these seperate and fun ideas (especially as I better learn and adjust to writing for this blog and back up some of the writing I'm proudest of from Backloggd). I don't really care if anybody really reads any of this or not, but there's quite a freeing feeling in that. I'm doing it for me because this sounds fun and if it stops being fun then I'll stop :3 (which honestly is how I run the youtube too like I make all this shit for myself, I watch and read my own shit all the time lmao) but there is an RSS feed available up at the top of the page for anybody who wants to keep up with my shit!
Thank you for reading and I'm very excited to write more here very very soon, first real not introductory post will probably end up finally being that Romeo is a Dead Man write up (especially since the Composite one is going to take a bit more time and like I am working on videos at the same time too!
